I have mentioned everywhere, at this point, that Devon and I will be traveling to London and Cardiff for our honeymoon this summer and we are BEYOND excited for the trip.
We went and did our passport applications this past weekend and we have most of our travel and lodging accommodations made, but…..
We haven’t really planned what we’re doing yet.
Part of the trip is because we’re both Doctor Who fans (Devon majorly so) and we want to explore some of the “nerdier” stuff surrounding that, but that won’t take us almost two weeks….
So, where should we go and see while we’re there? We aren’t super touristy, so we’re not people that are all “OMG we have to see Buckingham Palace” or anything like that while we’re there, but there are plenty of places we could visit and have a great experience.
For reference, we’re going to be there for about two weeks at the end of June/beginning of July. We have about 5 days in London, another 6 in Cardiff/Wales, and we also have a day in Edinburgh, Scotland, and a day in Reykjavik, Iceland. So, we’re open to suggestions in any of those places.
If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll notice that I got my hair re-done this past Friday.
It needed it so bad.
Mind you, it was humid that day and I did literally nothing to it except wash it the night before and it was up in some makeshift bun before I pulled it down for the picture…
But…it needed help so much.
So, some chocolate-brown color and about 4 inches chopped off later…
Real talk: I’m super bad at selfies, just an FYI.
There’s even some red undertones in it, which I LOVE!!
It just looks so much better. And it sounds odd, but I feel like darker hair just works better with my fair skin tone. It makes my complexion and face look warmer and gives it some depth. I feel like even just in pictures, my skin tone looks warmer with the darker hair around my face. It could just be me thinking that, but I’m okay with it.
I’m slightly sad because this is the last time I’m going to be able to get my hair cut this short for awhile. After this last cut, we’re pretty much on a maintenance streak, because I want to grow my hair out for the wedding (really not trying to get extensions for length). While I actually like my hair in this shorter collarbone length, I’d like for it to be maybe mid-back-ish for the wedding.
Which means now just trims as opposed to “drastic” cuts and more frequent trims so it doesn’t get out of hand. Then….after we come back from the honeymoon, I can chop it all off again.
I don’t fully know what kind of hairstyle I want for the wedding but I’m thinking of a half updo kind of thing. I’ve started pinning a few things and I really kind of like something like this:
Something where it has a pretty wave but it’s not super rigid curls or a huge mound of curls that overtakes my head.
One thing I love about my hairstylist is that she already wants to see pictures of how I’m envisioning my hair for the wedding because she wants to start shaping it and cutting it the way that will best suit the style that I want. And she wants to start doing that with like the next time I visit her; this way when the wedding comes, my hair is already where it needs to be and shouldn’t need a ton of reshaping or cutting to make it do what I want.
I am also still open to suggestions on hairstyles for the wedding. What I linked above is just what has stuck out to me the most so far, but any other ideas/suggestions are welcomed!
Currently, I’m just happy to have a pretty head of hair again. And I’m not the only person that plays with their hair for like three days after it’s be done, right?
I feel like I’m over thinking this too much. I over think a lot of things but I feel like this is above and beyond my normal scope here.
I haven’t actually “officially” asked my bridesmaids to be in the wedding yet. I mean, my maid of honor and mine and Devon’s friend from college already know they’re in it as maid of honor and one of my bridesmaids, but like….I haven’t actually asked.
Suddenly in the past few years it’s become this whole production to “propose” to your bridal party and I feel like that’s….a lot. People are spending a lot of money on like “proposal” gifts and I’m over here like, “weddings are already expensive enough without that”.
But, at the same time, I want it to be slightly more special than just me coming over to their house and being all “hey, be my bridesmaid”.
So, I don’t know what to do.
I was looking at bridesmaids totes this morning because I’m thinking they would be nice for the girls to have for the wedding, too, to bring whatever they need and carry extra shoes or whatever. I’ve found a few that I can personalize through Etsy which are cute and affordable. Plus I can make the bags be wedding colors so that they know what our color scheme is.
And I was thinking maybe a tumbler of some kind, too. I don’t want to do alcohol because one of my bridesmaids will only be 20 at our wedding.
But, like, do I need to do anything else? I NEED HELP! Help me.
Disclaimer: This post is not sponsored in any way, the jeweler I’m mentioning just has the biggest selection of what I am looking at thus far. I’m open to other jeweler options!
When Devon and I got engaged on Thanksgiving I had a lot of people tell me to essentially plan for stress upon stress during this whole process.
It’s pretty much been the exact opposite so far. I don’t know if it’s just mine and Devon’s naturally laid back personalities or the fact that we’re just planning our wedding our way and our families are pretty much staying out of it (or a bit of both), but with everything else going on, it’s actually fun and stress relieving for me to plan stuff for the wedding.
Except wedding rings are stressing me out a little. I’m honestly not even sure if “stress” is the right word, more like confusing me, I guess.
I love my engagement ring, mostly because it’s not the common solitaire setting that I’ve seen so much of the past few years. That setting is pretty, don’t get me wrong, but I love that while my ring is a solitaire, it’s a marquise cut (which I always thought I’d hate) and has some personality to it.
But I’m having issues deciding on a wedding band for it.
