Spring Break 2017

It’s the first morning of Spring Break…and it’s glorious.  I can now have the joy of thinking it’s Saturday every morning that I wake up for the next 12 days.

Devon has been on break all week and while I cursed him when I would get up in the morning and he was still sleeping, it’s been nice having a good dinner made for me every night. And I mean “good dinners” like marinated pork chops and slow cooker BBQ chicken.

Did I also mention that he baked a homemade chocolate cake last night, too?

And while i cared not at all about “staging” this, look how fluffy that was; it was like eating air.

Plus, he’s so done a few things around the house, like he deep cleaned the dishwasher and the oven, laundry, and cleared out his random “Devon corners” around the house.  “Devon corners” are those little areas where he just kind of “stores” things; like the corner of the living room where there were like 4 Amazon boxes just hanging out there or the area around his easy chair where random crap just happens regularly.  It’s all gone, yay!!  So, he’s been quite productive since he’s been home.  There’s still a couple things I’m going to ask him to help me with now that we’re both home, but hes already been a huge help.

If you remember from my task list a few weeks ago, I have some things I want to get done before I go back to school on April 24th.  I’ve gotten a couple things done but not a ton and I’ve been all but unproductive since I got home yesterday.  Unless you count a 2 hour nap as soon as I got home “productive”, but I do need to relax and replenish myself, too, so not every moment can be super productive.

I tackled our front hall closet last weekend and took care of the bins of things already, too.  I left more of the bigger projects or this week just because life has been too busy lately to really get deep into another project.

I’m going to spend some time today planning out my break. I have a couple of appointments to go to while I’m home and some other things I want to do, so I’m going to try to make a plan of attack to get as much done as possible.  Plus, I’m going to return the dinner favor and be in charge of making dinner while I’m home next week since Devon did that for me this week so I need to do some meal planning, too.

That sounds like a pretty good way to spend my first day of spring break.  There might also be another nap in there….who knows.  But it’ll be a relaxing day, regardless.
