*I am alive and relatively unscathed from my endoscopy on Thursday. Just a little bit of residual burning sensations from the biopsies they took, but nothing serious. I’ll talk more about it when all the results come back, but for now my doctor didn’t see anything bad or seriously wrong; just some mild gastritis, which pretty much everyone has. So keep your fingers crossed!
*I AM OFFICIALLY ON CHRISTMAS BREAK!! I could not be happier. I’m off for the next two weeks and it is glorious. I have a few appointments for things I can’t seem to get done during school, some stuff I want to get done at home and stuff Devon and I want to do, so I won’t be bored but it will just be nice to have some time away from school.
*One thing we’re going to look at over break are wedding bands. We have not even remotely looked at wedding rings in person and I still don’t know what I want for mine. Devon decided he wants a Tungsten ring for his (he feels its most appropriate for a science teacher….weird boy). I think he ultimately wants to do a tattoo wedding “ring” on his finger because he feels like he’ll forget to wear the ring. Whatever works, I don’t really care which he does.
*Our clothes dryer hasn’t worked right in…..like a year? We’ve had people out to fix it and it still took forever to dry and when I say forever, like it could be in there for five hours and they were still damp. Finally we had someone who knew what he was doing come out and I don’t know where he found it, but he pulled this huge ball of lint out of it and it has FINALLY worked beautifully ever since. I don’t remember when the last time was I put clothes in for a dry cycle and have them come out hot and completely dry after the first time. It’s GLORIOUS!
*If you saw my Instagram yesterday, you saw that I made my Creamy Chicken and Potato Soup for dinner last night. It’s been super cold here all week and it’s been randomly snowy (which I’m not actually complaining about right now) so I felt it was appropriate to make a nice hearty soup for dinner. I actually added a little bit of sour cream to it this time and not only did it thicken it up a bit, but it added a nice little tang to it that it didn’t have before.
*On the subject of potatoes, I found this meme on Facebook earlier today that was so very appropriate for Devon AKA The King of Potatoes:
That’s pretty much Devon’s mantra in life is that potatoes fit every occasion.
*There is something about being on vacation that makes me feel more domestic. Like tonight I decided to make a pork tenderloin and baked mac and cheese; no way I would normally do that when I have to work tomorrow. I’m also going to make dinner a few nights this week, which we know does not happen when I’ve worked all day. I told Devon to enjoy the “stay at home fiance” bit while he’s got it (he still has school all week this week).
*My hope is that I actually feel like I have my life together by the time I go back to work in January. It may happen….probably won’t last long if it does, but it’s a nice goal to work towards.
Hope everyone had a great weekend!
