Real Life

2 / 27 / 172 / 27 / 17

I’ve been kind of debating whether or not to put this out here because while this blog is about real life and about my life, there are always some things that I want to keep protected.  Sometimes it’s people, sometimes it’s situations (like that one thing I keep saying I need to tell you all about and still haven’t yet).  But, then again, this blog is about my real life, so to not share it, I would feel like I’m being inauthentic and I wouldn’t be able to take myself seriously anymore, nor would I expect anyone else to do the same.

One of the issues I hear people have with bloggers is that they don’t see the “real” part. It’s easy to hide messes in your house if you vlog by throwing everything in a room and making your house look immaculate by showing the one room that is; it’s easy to do a recipe post because you can make it over and over again and use photo editing to make the picture look like something you want to eat just off the picture.  Some Mommy bloggers don’t show when their kids are acting horrendous one day because that’s not what they want their readers to see.

I get it.

But life isn’t picture perfect nor is it easy sometimes.

And sometimes it just downright sucks sometimes.

Fab Fit Fun Unboxing

2 / 23 / 17

I’ve heard so much about the Fab Fit Fun Box throughout the blogging world and on Facebook that I had to try it out, at least once.

Basically what this is, is a box subscription service (think like Birchbox and StitchFix) that you can sign up to receive 4 times a year.  So, each season – fall, winter, spring, and summer, you’ll get a box filled with seasonal health products, beauty/skin care products, accessories, and more for $49.99 a box.  It seems a little high, but each box is guaranteed to be worth over $200.

In fact, the box I just got was worth over $250!

On top of that, there was a promo code where I either got like $20 or $25 off the box, so I really only paid, at most, $29.99 for this box (all subsequent boxes will be $49.99) and I got $250 worth of FULL-SIZED products.  Yes, the stuff they send is full sized, not trial or travel sizes like some other subscription services.

Now, I’m not entirely sure which box I received.  They said they were sending the spring box, but seeing what was in my box and compared to the reviews I’ve seen, I’m pretty sure I got the winter box.  Either way, I’m pretty pleased and excited by what was in there. There are a couple of items or products that I’m kind of “meh” about for various reasons, but those are also items I can easily gift or give to someone else.  Even without those items, what I like out of the box definitely is worth more than what I spent on it.

My Furball

2 / 21 / 172 / 21 / 17

I had to take my little furball Maya to the vet yesterday, which is never a pleasant experience for either of us.

She not only hates being in a carrier, she hates being in the car even more and she, obviously, doesn’t like the vet.  She wants none of it.  She absolutely hates being outside or the thought of it.

The experience stresses her out and it stresses me out because I have to listen to her cry the entire car ride to and from along with random wailing once we’re there.  Though I do play Paul McCartney/Wings and that seems to calm her down a little in the car.  Not sure why, but  hey, whatever works, right?

But like I said, it’s not pleasant.

I took her, for years, to a vet hospital in Catonsville, mostly just because they were great and we’d used them for years.  Even a 20 minute car ride seemed worth it (even though she wailed the whole time).  But her vet left the facility and I just wasn’t as happy once she left. So, I found a vet called Hickory Ridge Animal Hospital that is literally 6 minutes away from our house and it had amazing reviews.

Saturday Shorts

2 / 18 / 172 / 18 / 17

*I stopped at Wegman’s on my way home yesterday afternoon to pick up a few things and grab a prescription. After I checked out, I went out to the parking lot and spent like 5 minutes looking for my car.  My, now, old car, that is.  In my brain I’m still looking for a silver Rogue. Meanwhile my new black Terrain is sitting in the second spot from the front of the store and I walked right by it.  It takes a little while to get used to a new car, okay? And it’s been a very long week.  Don’t judge me.

*To re-iterate how long of a week its been, I slept almost 12 hoours last night. It was glorious and much needed.  It’s a three-day weekend, and I’m so ridiculously happy about it.

*My beloved TOMS are dying.  I have several pairs, but I have one neutral brown canvas pair that I wear so much and they’re wearing in the heel in one shoe. And I’m honestly not mad about it.  I bought this pair, probably, at least 4 years ago and, like I said, I wear them a lot, all year round. I know everyone is always up in arms about how expensive TOMS are, but considering 4 years of really good wear and they’re just now dying?  I’ll willingly spend $50-$75 on a pair of shoes that can do that.  And I’ve tried the “knock-offs” or “dupes” and none of them are as comfy for me as TOMS are.  Not only is TOMS having a big sale right now, they’re also doing FREE standard shipping, so awesome time to get more.  So, I got a new pair of the Ash colored classics as well as this Cute glittery black pair that I can wear to work.  And I got an extra 10% off because they have a teachers discount (which I love stores that do that).  It was a really good deal for two pairs of TOMS, I’m excited to get them.

*I am so not okay with how warm it is outside.  It’s only February. It shouldn’t feel like spring outside.

*I really need to find time to go get my hair done. I don’t know when that is going to happen because life is insane lately. But it’s way too long and my roots need to be done. The good thing about going darker is that you can’t see the roots badly if hardly at all, but I see them and I know they’re there so it annoys me a little.

*Now that this seems to be turning into me complaining, I’ll stop now.

Have a great weekend!!

I NO LONGER Have Car Issues!!!

2 / 17 / 17

That was quick, right?

First of all, I just want to say; I had the best and most patient and NOT PUSHY car salesman ever.  If you’re in the Baltimore/Anne Arundel County area and need a nice and decent salesman, let me know and I’ll hook you up with my guy.  He went through….a lot with me because I’m not the easiest or most decisive car customer.  It was like two weeks of emailing back and forth (and that’s another thing, he respected my utter disdain of talking on the phone and emailed me like I asked) and dozens of car listings and me going, “ehhhhh…..” before we finally got something that made me happy.
