I received my April Stitch Fix a couple of days ago and while I’m not like jumping up and down about the contents, there were some good things in it.
I feel like Stitch Fix and I are just going to have a love/hate relationship. I don’t know. Maybe there’s something I’m missing.
Don’t get me wrong, I do still enjoy getting the boxes, maybe I’m just good at saying what I want in my box or I’m not providing the right inspiration? Either way, I’m kind of back in the same place I was with it before I canceled it, where I love getting the boxes, I’m just not getting much out of them.
If you’ve had a similar issue and managed to resolve it, you’re welcome to leave a comment or send me a message on any tips you may have. My stylists already have my Pinterest boards as well as feedback from previous boxes, but maybe there is something I’m not doing that may help?
Onto the box itself.
If you are completely unfamiliar to Stitch Fix, it’s a monthly (you can also customize delivery so that you get boxes more or less often than monthly) fashion subscription box that is curated to your personal style and specifications. They send you five pieces of clothing, shoes, bags, and accessories that coordinate with a style profile that you complete online. Each box costs $20, which they refer to as their styling fee, that will be applied to any purchases you make from the box. If you decide you don’t want to keep anything, you are still charged the $20 fee, so it’s really most cost effective to try and keep at least one item so that your styling fee isn’t wasted. Returns, however, are completely free and easy by using the prepaid USPS return bag that you will receive in your box.
Evolution by CyrusSana Waffle Knit Front Zip Up Pullover $64
While I have an appreciation for hoodies and comfies, this was not comfy to me. The way the waffle knit was and, I think the material, it made it very form fitting in a way that I don’t want a garment like this to be. When I think of a hoodie, I think of something soft, not form fitting, casual, etc; this did not fit that bill for me. So, this was an automatic drop in the return bag.
Kut From The Kloth Kate Distressed Boyfriend Jean $88
So, I do KIND OF like these, but I don’t know if I like them enough to keep them. You all know denim/jeans are that one thing that I am beyond picky about, so they have to meet pretty high standards for me. These are good, but I feel like I would like them better if they were darker. They’re in that medium wash which has a tendency to look weird on me, as far as I’m concerned. You can unroll the bottoms, which I like, if you want to wear them as a regular length, or you can keep them cropped which I also like the summer months. Basically, I think if they were a different wash, I’d easily keep them, but I’m not sure I’d get a lot of wear out of them because of the color.
Bancroft Briolette Station Necklace $34
This is a really cute double-strand beaded necklace with some really neutral whites, browns, and silver colors in it. This I like. I like that it’s already layered, because I feel like longer necklaces should be layered (that could just be me, I don’t know) and I like that it gives interest without being so bold that it would over power your actual outfit. Since I don’t actually own a cute long necklace like this, this is a keeper because it’ll give me a little variety in my pretty simple jewelry wardrobe.
MIX BY 41 HAWTHORN Paulsen Knit Top $38
I actually already own a basic top like this in this same green shade and in the same kind of shape and style, so because of that alone, this top is going back. I just don’t need to own two of the same thing especially when I don’t wear the one I have all THAT often. I typically wear the one I have on a casual day with jeans, if I’m just running errands or just need to throw on a top that would go with anything. So, I do like this and would keep it if I didn’t already have an identical piece in my closet.
LushWarren Spit Neck Blouse $44
This style of tunic is basically a closet staple for me, I own a bunch of tunics with this similar shape and style because they’re really great and easy for me to wear to work, on weekends, etc. This was very easily a keep for me because I know I will wear it often with all of the things. It’s a light material which is great for spring and it’s a color I can wear year round, so I can easily pair it with a cardigan or a blazer in the fall and winter.
